Today, more than 23 million American adults and children suffer from incurable autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis. Often invisible, autoimmune diseases can make even simple routines like eating or moving a daily challenge. But there is hope. Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason (BRI), is investigating how all 80 types of autoimmune diseases are connected, leading to better treatments, detections, and preventions.

You can help support more breakthroughs in the fight against autoimmune diseases by making a donation to BRI, raising funds through the BRI Seafair Triathlon Fundraising Platform and by joining a biorepository. Visit BRI’s website to learn more.
