Kids Tri Info
Seafair Kids Triathlon
The Seafair Kids Triathlon is geared towards the little triathlete in your family. With two different kids triathlon categories, our kids’ triathlon is aimed for those kids ages 4 – 12 that may not be able to finish the full sprint triathlon (and more importantly a half-mile open water swim). The entire kids’ triathlon will take place within Seward Park, meaning the course is closed to only our little triathletes!
Kids participating in the “long course” will participate in a 100-yard swim in deep waters. Lifeguards will be present and surrounding the swim at all times.
Kids participating in the short course will be a 50-yard “swim” and can walk the entire swim portion.

Kids Course Information
Kids Long Swim Course – All kids participating in the long course will swim a 100-yard lap into deep water. Kids, please provide your own goggles. All flotation devices are welcome and encouraged. Ample lifeguards will be on hand to ensure the safety of all participants and waves of five kids will be allowed at a time to ensure all lifeguards are ready.
Kids Short Swim Course – Kids will swim 50 yards, parallel to the shoreline in waist deep water with lifeguards between kids and deeper waters. For the safety of all athletes, we will send kids out in groups of 5-10 at a time. Kids times start after crossing the swim start mat, not while they are in line.
Bike Course – Both courses will be an out/back bike ride on the paved pathway and roadway surrounding Seward Park
Run Course – All kids run route will start at the transition zone and run to the finish line in the south parking area.
Kids Transition Zone
The Kids Transition Zone will be built and set up prior to arrival on Sunday. Bikes are allowed to start being “racked” at 9:00am on race day (July 21). Because kids bikes are not tall enough to rack as you would a normal triathlon, we will set up cones with your race distance and number on them (example: Long Course 1, Long Course 2, Short Course 1). These will also match the bib color and swim cap to help your kids remember their location. Starting at 9:00am (if you didn’t pick up Saturday) we will open registration and late packet pickup for all kids. At this time, you’ll be able to collect your supplies. Parents Remember – Once the kids’ triathlon starts, no parents will be allowed in the transition zone. Staff will be on hand to make sure kids transition as fast as possible
Parents Parents Parents
Ok parents, we know you want to be involved but this is time for the little ones to shine! Parents will not be allowed in the transition zone once the race starts. Event personnel will be on hand to help each participant find their bike, get changed and continue on their bike or run. We know chains fall off, shoelaces get stuck and helmets cannot be found. We will be on hand to help them every step of the way. If something out of the ordinary happens, we will call you in for reinforcement!
